D.6 Dragon
Ancient dragons are magical creatures of immense power and wisdom, and are far more powerful than any ordinary character of the same level. However, young dragons can be played as characters, though their unique abilities do pose unique challenges.
Creature Type: Unlike most other playable species, a dragon is a dragon instead of a humanoid.
Size: Small. This gives a dragon a 20 foot base speed and a +1 bonus to their Reflex defense, among other effects (see Size Categories).
Attributes: -1 Strength, +1 to any of Constitution, Intelligence, or Willpower.
Special Abilities:
- Dragon Archetype: Dragons only gain two class archetypes instead of three. Instead, they treat the Dragon archetype as one of their archetypes, and they gain ranks in it just like they gain ranks in class archetypes.
- Draconic Senses: Dragons have darkvision with a 60 foot range, allowing them to see in complete darkness (see Darkvision). In addition, dragons gain low-light vision, allowing them to see clearly in dim illumination (see Low-light Vision).
- Draconic Scales: Dragons gain a +2 bonus to their Armor defense.
- Draconic Weapons: Dragons have a bite natural weapon and two claw natural weapons. For details, see Natural Weapons.
- Draconic Wings: Dragons have scaly wings that sprout from their backs. These wings grant them an average glide speed (see Aerial Movement).
- Dragon Type: Each dragon has a single type from among the dragon types on Table D.2: Dragon Species Types. They are immune to attacks with their associated ability tag.
- Immortal: Dragons are immortal. They cannot die of old age.
- Limited Equipment: A dragon’s claws are not able to effectively wield shields or manufactured weapons, but can still use ordinary objects and implements. They can wear armor, but it is treated as barding instead of normal armor, reducing its effectiveness (see Barding).
- Quadrupedal: A dragon is quadrupedal, which gives it a +10 foot bonus to its speed.
Automatic Languages: Common, Draconic, any one common language.

D.6.1 Dragon Archetype
Rank 1 – Dragon Breath
| Dragon Breath | Standard action |
Cost: You briefly can’t use this ability again.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
This ability’s tag depends on your dragon type (see ??). If your dragon’s source is magical, this ability is also magical, which means you use your magical power for damage instead of your mundane power. Make an attack vs. Reflex and one other defense against everything in the area defined by your dragon type. The additional defense depends on your dragon type.
Hit: 1d8 damage + power.
Miss: Half damage.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
You use the higher of your draconic wealth rank and your rank in this archetype to determine your rank with this ability.
Rank 2: The damage increases to 2d6 damage + power.
Rank 3: The area increases. A line breath weapon becomes a Large (60 ft.), 10 ft. wide line. A cone breath weapon becomes a Medium (30 ft.) cone.
Rank 4: The damage increases to 1d6 damage plus 1d6 per 2 power.
Rank 5: The damage increases to 3d6 damage plus 1d6 per 2 power.
Rank 6: The damage increases to 3d8 damage plus 1d8 per 2 power.
Rank 7: The damage increases to 3d10 damage plus 1d10 per 2 power, and the area increases. A line breath weapon becomes a Gargantuan (120 ft.), 15 ft. wide line. A cone breath weapon becomes a Large (60 ft.) cone.
Rank 8: The damage increases to 6d6 damage plus 1d6 per power.
Rank 1 – Dragonic Wealth ✨
You draw power from mineral-based wealth items with intrinsic mundane value, such as gold, gems, and jewels. Those items are called draconic wealth items. Your draconic wealth rank is equal to the highest item rank of a draconic wealth item in your possession. Some of your abilities are improved by your draconic wealth rank, such as your dragon breath.
The draconic wealth item must be carried on your body, including containers on your body. As normal when calculating wealth items, five items of one rank can be collectively considered to be a single item one rank higher. For example, if you have five rank 2 rubies, your draconic wealth rank would be 3.
Rank 2 – Draconic Power
You can add half your Strength to your magical power. In addition, you can add half your Willpower to your mundane power.
Rank 3 – Consume Wealth ✨
| Consume Wealth ✨ | Standard action |
Cost: One stamina, and you briefly can’t use this ability again.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
You consume a mineral-based wealth item that is at least one size category smaller than you. For the next ten minutes, your minimum draconic wealth rank is equal to the rank of the consumed item plus two. In addition, you briefly regain hit points based on the item’s rank at the end of your turn:
- Rank 0: 1d8+1d6 hit points.
- Rank 1: 2d10 hit points.
- Rank 2: 3d10 hit points.
- Rank 3: 5d8 hit points.
- Rank 3: 7d8 hit points.
- Rank 4: 8d10 hit points.
- Rank 6: 12d10 hit points.
- Rank 7: 17d10 hit points.
- Rank 8: 22d10 hit points.
Rank 3 – Draconic Bulk
Your size category increases to Medium. This increases your base speed to 30 feet. You reduce your Dexterity by 1 and increase your Strength and Constitution by 1. In addition, you gain a +1 bonus to your Armor defense.
Rank 4 – Draconic Flight ✨
Your wings grow larger, granting you a limited ability to fly. You gain an average fly speed with a maximum height of 10 feet (see Flight).
Rank 5 – Draconic Mind
You gain a +1 bonus to your Intelligence, Perception, or Willpower. If your Constitution is higher than your chosen attribute before applying this bonus, the bonus increases to +2.
Rank 6 – Draconic Bulk+
Your size category increases to Large. This increases your base speed to 40 feet. Your Dexterity penalty increases to -2, and your bonus to Strength and Constitution increases to +2. You also gain a tail slam natural weapon. It deals 1d8 damage and has the Impact weapon tag (see Weapon Tags).
Rank 7 – Draconic Flight+ ✨
The height limit of your flight increases to 60 feet.
Rank 7 – Draconic Hoard ✨
Your abilitydraconic wealth ability draws power from a hoard you maintain, not merely items you carry with you. Your hoard must be owned exclusively by you, and you must know its location at all times. Only draconic wealth items contribute to your hoard’s effects, though you may have other items in your hoard. If a draconic wealth item disappears from your hoard, you know immediately.
For each rank 7 draconic wealth item in your hoard, you gain a +1 enhancement bonus to your Constitution, to a maximum of +5. For each rank 8 draconic wealth item in your hoard, you gain an additional attunement point, to a maximum of 3.
